PostSubject: 2008 United States Presidential Election   Wed Sep 10, 2008 2:37 am

I thought I could start a thread where all the discussions relating to the election could take place.

Some ideas of questions to discuss:

-What issues should the canidates be focusing on?
-Regardless of who you want to win, who do you think will win?
-Why do you dislike or like about the canidates?
-Is McCain really too old or is his age a non-issue?
-Does Obama have enough experience?
-Whose speeches did you like?

Even if you don't want to debate, post your thoughts here.

-Regardless of who you want to win, who do you think will win?
Obama.

-Why do you dislike or like about the canidates?
I like Obama's mannerisms. Dislike a bunch of his policies. I pretty much dislike McCain all around.

-Is McCain really too old or is his age a non-issue?
The guy is really showing his age as of late... plus I think the fact that he's from a totally different generation is a downside.

-Does Obama have enough experience?
No.

-Whose speeches did you like?
I'll wait until the debates start, that's where it counts.

-What issues should the canidates be focusing on?
budget

-Regardless of who you want to win, who do you think will win?
up until palin i would have said obama without a doubt, but now i'm not too sure!

-Why do you dislike or like about the canidates?
obama is a smooth talker and funny but i don't like where he stands on most issues. as far as mccain goes, i like sarah palin... and i think mccain talks way too much about his war experience and agree with him on some issues but disagree with him on some as well. basically, i love sarah!

-Is McCain really too old or is his age a non-issue?
he's probably not going to die within the next four years

-Does Obama have enough experience?
no? but i guess it's not that big of deal to me, you can only prepare so much for being PRESIDENT of a country, it's sort of new territory coming from any profession, even political ones.

-Whose speeches did you like?
sarah palin's of course!

-What issues should the canidates be focusing on?

war, economy,alternative energy,abortion

-Regardless of who you want to win, who do you think will win?

obama

-Why do you dislike or like about the canidates?

I like that Obama is pro exit strategy, has good economical ideas and is the most libertarian democratic prez. can. ive seen since kuisinich. he also is pro killing little babies. not so much the liking that

McCain is dumb. he thinks the american people wont care if the war goes on for another 10k years. he is a beurocrat, he has stupid republican economical ideas, but he is anti abortion.

-Is McCain really too old or is his age a non-issue?

non issue
if he dies we get palin:bounce: bounce

-Does Obama have enough experience?
well he was anti the war from the beginning so i think he can make up what he lacks in experience with intuition

-Whose speeches did you like?
obamas

although mcanins at the RNC were pretty dope.

-What issues should the canidates be focusing on?
War and Economy

-Regardless of who you want to win, who do you think will win?
I still think it's a toss up. I think it will go like this... if McCain wins, our nation is racist, and if Obama wins, our nation is sexist, lol.

-Why do you dislike or like about the canidates?
I dislike a lot about Obama. He thinks our nation is unintelligent, and he is borderline socialist. He also was a state senator, like 4 years ago? I don't feel like he is ready. He has a nice smile.

I dislike how long the war will go if McCain is in charge. I am glad he is anti-abortion. I don't really know what else to say. He's closer to my views, so I'll probably vote for him.. although both are crappy candidates.

-Is McCain really too old or is his age a non-issue?
I don't think it's really an issue.

-Does Obama have enough experience?
No. He gives a professional appearance, but I don't think he has enough experience to lead a country. He has no war experience, I don't think he can safely withdraw our troops. McCain at least has some experience in war, but I don't like a war that will drag on forever. So, no he doesn't have enough experience.

-Whose speeches did you like?
Haven't really seen much.. I've been busy over the conventions. I'll probably watch the debates though.

Since I'm not very excited about the presidential elections, I am glad to have a governor election to be excited over. Dino Rossi vs. Christine Gregoire. I am very pro-Rossi, and I'm excited to vote for him and see what happens.

-What issues should the canidates be focusing on?
The economy! Seriously. Also, the war, healthcare, and foreign policy.
-Regardless of who you want to win, who do you think will win?
I have a feeling it will be McCain even though Obama has been taking the slight lead in polls recently.
-Why do you dislike or like about the canidates?
dislikes about each
McCain: more neo-conservatism with more of a focus on "beating the Democrats" than actual care for the people of the US, using dirtier tactics in campaigning, wants to stay in Iraq
Obama: not as experienced, supports a couple things I don't
Palin: I don't even want to go into it. She really scares me.
Biden: I don't know much about him. I had a couple friends whose opinions I really value supporting him.
-Is McCain really too old or is his age a non-issue?
Yes. Because if he dies in office, Palin would be president and that is a big issue.
-Does Obama have enough experience?
Probably. I think intelligence and values are more important than experience.
-Whose speeches did you like?
I have only seen Obama speak in person and he is very gripping. McCain is boring.

-What issues should the canidates be focusing on?
Economy and war.
-Regardless of who you want to win, who do you think will win?
Obama
-Why do you dislike or like about the canidates?
McCain: Mainly just wanting to keep our troops in Iraq. Other than that, I have nothing against him.
Obama: Too inexperienced and the media treats him like he's the damn Second Coming.
-Is McCain really too old or is his age a non-issue?
His age should be a non-issue, although it will be an issue.
-Does Obama have enough experience?
I don't think so.
-Whose speeches did you like?
Haven't heard either of them.

-What issues should the canidates be focusing on?
the economy, the Iraq war, foreign policy in general
-Regardless of who you want to win, who do you think will win?
Obama
-Why do you dislike or like about the canidates?
McCain
Dislike: brings up his POW time to dodge pretty much every question he gets asked, accuses Obama of being an elitist when he owns like 13 houses, wants to keep troops in Iraq forever, has a rotten temper, racist
Like: pro-life
Obama:
Dislike: voted for FISA bill granting telecom immunity, is often really vague when discussing issues, anti-gay marriage
Like: great speaker/writer, seems like a genuinely decent person unlike McCain (although that doesn't have much impact on my voting), has Iraq exit plan, *insert list of liberal policies*
-Is McCain really too old or is his age a non-issue?
non issue, but if he dies and Palin becomes president I will leave the country, not kidding. She is awful and has no idea how to run anything competently.
-Does Obama have enough experience?
Doesn't matter to me, and shouldn't to anyone. You wanna know someone who had experience before entering office? George W. Bush. So experience doesn't mean dick. What matters to me is that Obama knows what he's talking about when it comes to his policies, and that's really all that counts in the end.
-Whose speeches did you like?
Obama's.

I was thoroughly entertained by the VP debate last night.

Biden: *giggle*

Palin: "I'd like to go back to energy here just for a minute."

I actually thought they both did super good. I don't really know that it actually accomplished anything though.

-What issues should the candidates be focusing on?
~ the war, the economy, energy

-Regardless of who you want to win, who do you think will win?
~hard to say, but knowing americans, Mccain/palin

-Why do you dislike or like about the candidates?
~i think obama has balls and he, more than any other candidate is standing behind what he believes
~mccain is ok for a republican, but i disagree with him on virtually every issue and if he wants to call himself a maverick he should really take some more maverickesque stances
~Joe Biden is the man. i actually like him more than obama.
~Sarah Palin is an atrocity. she may be a nice person, but should in no way be considered for a national office, let alone VP. If obama is a rookie sarah palin is the water girl. she relies exclusively on rhetoric, totes herself as being part of the middle class despite being considerably more wealthy than any sane person who would consider themself middle class, and her being mccain's vp pick seems like a blatantly desperate move to appeal to non-thinking voters. she's a puppet, a very attractive, averagely intelligent, poorly constructed puppet.

-Is McCain really too old or is his age a non-issue?

~it is definitely an issue, as is being assassinated an issue for obama. i think VPs are more important in this race than in any other presidential race.

-Does Obama have enough experience?

~did George Bush? I think what obama lacks in actual experience he makes up for in intelligence and his openness to analytical thought.

-Whose speeches did you like?
~i like obama's for the genuine quality they carry and i am so tired of republicans trying to divert attention from the man saying very important things by dismissing him for delivering 'nice speeches.' I like palin's for her complete inability to answer a question and her rhetorical force field which repels all logic.
