| It's weird to think, that with a universe so beyond our comprehension...With what understanding we do have, I suppose what I have, would point me in the direction to think "the one" would be pretty unlikely. We seem to be destined for a lot more than one person. I don't think of love, or more specifically, sex, can be looked at so narrowly. |

Being jaded about it when you're so young is just a burn mark, hell, I have a little faith about this area working out. |
But what about if Gail's situation was different? What if she married someone and stayed with him (in love) for 30+ years and knew he was the one for her? There are many people out there like that.
Everyone's situation and life is different. No disrespect to Gail, but just because she's older than us and has had an unfortunate experience doesn't mean thats the way it is for everyone, or thats how we should view relationships. |

| i was speaking generally, not of gail's specific circumstances which i know very little about. In regard to judging how things work the level of variation of the experiences in this field are less important than the duration spent therein, in my opinion. At least in terms of making hypotheticals. Where is Adam and his "I don't prioritize this nonsense enough to delve into it" side? |

| every relationship between two people is a unique experience between only those two people. relationships can go many ways. yes, some people find their "true love" and live "happily ever after" until they die, and others go thru a series of failed relationships. baggage has alot to do with a relationship. we bring our baggage with us, and everyone has different baggage. sometimes two people can mesh, sometimes they clash terribly. our personalities are all so different too. how we deal with subsequent life events matters alot too, after we're married. there's alot to consider when seeking a mate. when we dated, my husband and i got drunk every weekend and went to concerts and movies and out to eat. after we were married..dang...seems like the fun stopped. then when he lost his dad...and i lost a baby...things went downhill. we separated alot emotionally after i lost the baby because i needed to talk, and he didn't. after that, i began a 10+ yr long ministry of helping others which was very rewarding, and husband wanted NO part of it. then when 2 yrs later i had a baby...i dunno...by that time we were pretty much emotionally distant. and wait...just WHO said i'm older???? i'll KILL YOU. hahahaha |
