the new stuff isn't a good example of what they're capable of. check out dissent and retaliate, those are the albums when they used to have members of dying fetus in the band. perfect blend of punk/hardcore/grind/death metal.

just put on a trapped under ice show this past saturday, it was awesome. other shows last week- gwar/toxic holocaust, trap them, and skarhead. tons of fun at all. upcoming shows (please note I am not paying for any of them... WIN)

^so jealous you got to see that show. the faceless are one of the best metal bands going right now, not to mention decrepit birth and neuraxis. neuraxis' trilateral progression = a top notch album.

also, what the FUCK are abigail williams and veil of maya doing so high up on that bill. both bands are complete dogshit.

Abigail Williams > Neuraxis IMO. Here's my breakdown of the show.

Neuraxis - Pretty good live show. They were better than I expected, but sounded like relatively generic death metal and nothing I would listen to on a regular basis. They're just one of those bands who's live show sounds better than their recorded material.

Veil of Maya - Meh. Put on a good show, but they brought the scene kids as well, so they lost points on that one. They would actually be on the something if they would take the "-core" influences out of their music.

Decrepit Birth - The highlight of the night. They played flawlessly and the lead vocalist was a crazy man. I wasn't much of a fan beforehand, but I definitely am now.

Abigail Williams - Second best band of the night IMO and honestly the main band I wanted to see. Their new stuff is amazing and much better than the stuff from their EP. The only disappointment was that their highly attractive female keyboardist was not there so the keys were pre-recorded.

The Faceless - Great set but wasn't nearly as impressive as the two bands that preceded them. The new songs sound incredible though, and I really can't wait for the new album to drop.

All around great show. I bought the latest albums from Decrepit Birth and Abigail Williams and a Faceless shirt. Every band played really good and there wasn't a bad set in the show.

I am not really impressed with neuraxis' new album or their new vocalist, but songs like clarity and monitoring the mind off of TP are some of the best metal songs to come out in years. hope they get back on track with their future material.
