| No big surprise. McCain didn't stand a chance. I'm pretty much indifferent to Obama winning. Now we just wait and see if he comes through with all that "change" he's been promising. | |

Well... I want to say 'I doubt he'll get half of it done'. However, because the democratic party pretty well crushed the opposition in this election... they have majority in the house and senate -- and they get to elect a supreme court justice this term. He may not get all of the change that he's been promising delivered... but with having majority of your party 'in power' it sure as hell will help.

| I am slightly, vaguely, in a very resigned manner, glad that Obama won over McCain. As it is, he is in a position to cause just very slightly less damage to the world than McCain would have done. |

I know plenty of people who disagree with you on that one. I'm not one of them, just saying.....

| I disagree with that. But, life goes on. How long until 2012?
Although, Biden has a good shot at the seat... I feel like Obama is a high candidate for assassination. I hope it doesn't happen, but still...

| Regardless how you voted, this is a big step for our country. It's cool to think that this will influence future generation's racial relations. | |

| i've never been politically inclined, in fact, this is only the 2nd time ive voted in my life.
i was telling my son that i hope obama takes this opportunity to be the best president he can, but not only president, black president. i feel that the black people have always felt second class and now that a black man is president, i dunno, maybe somehow ...oh shit... can't find the words....
well, i'm sure it WILL give every black person hope that they can be whatever they wish in our country.
owe...that's the word. growing up in cleveland and hearing things.. it's like blacks have always felt that the white people owed them something because of their enslavement. so now a black man is president and i just hope that black people are happy and that he can do as great a job as black people have always thought a black president could do if elected. now they see they have every opportunity that a white person does.
i hate discrimination against races. it's awful. a nearby pool once told me and my son we couldn't swim there because we didn't live in that city, and i felt very much discriminated against and got a taste of what good black people have been feeling for years. i didn't like it. not at all.
i'm still shocked actually that a black person won. i never thought i'd see the day. maybe because i've always lived in such racist areas.

what county do you live in? i live in caroll county and all i see is mccain signs. although i think montogmery county, pg county and baltimore city will definately swing it that way I didn't know you that you live in Maryland... I live in Montgomery County. I've seen some McCain signs and bumper stickers, but there is alot of Obama.

| I think that the next black president will be the historical one. When we can elect a president who is black who doesn't win a bunch of votes just because he's black and it's not a big deal because he's just the same, then we will have gotten somewhere. | |

Translation: I think the next black president who is a Republican and fits the ideals I was indoctrinated to believe in will be the historical one. Dude, give us all a fucking break. Seriously. I'm no Obama fan myself, albeit for different reasons, but at least be true to yourself and others. |

| honestly. the idea that he was elected because he's black is absolutely ludicrous. and the fact that this is something I've heard from multiple people now pisses me off. | |
